Exhibitions retrospective

The Open Atelierroute Almelo was organized as of old the last week of September. This year 2023 was the 31st edition and took place on Sept. 23 and 24.

For me it was the very first time I participated in the Atelier Route and for me it was a mega success

Dennis and I had the opportunity to set up our work at The Little Church at 78 Market Street.

Our house is located some distance from the city center. Which results in a much lower number of visitors.

Now that we were in the center we could look forward to more than 150 interested people with the peak on the second day. Sunday was very nice weather and the public went wild to visit the Almelo artists in their studios or temporary shelters and talk about their practices, ideas and make plans.

To my great surprise, the Alderman of Culture Margreet Overmeen-Bakhuis came with her followed and tour guides to pay us an unexpected visit. I could immediately tell hundreds of stories about myself and my work. I was completely Flabbergasted. The words tumbled over each other. I really wouldn’t have dreamed of this.

For the month of May 2023, I had created a series of cats for a presentation during the Pop-up Awareness I had organized together with Dennis Zanoni in the Grotestraat Almelo. The centerpiece was the City Cat of Almelo. A digital collage of sights in Almelo and my cat cut from a stock photo. I have now offered this work to the Municipality so that it can hang temporarily in the town hall. How fun is that!?

AtThe Little Church, many interested people also came to see the old little church which is now a cultural venue. People looked their eyes out….

Regular music nights and events will be held at the Little Church in the near future. Keep an eye on the program.
