Ode to the Port

Opening night was a mega success

The Ode to the Port can be visited from December 10, 2023 to January 7, 2024.

Entitled Ode to the Harbour”, nachtvandehaven.nl organized the exhibition Wildhanging 2023 in collaboration with Möllerwerf Hengelo.

On Dec. 9, the exhibition was opened by Hengelo Alderman of Culture Marie Jose Luttikholt.

144 artists from region are participating in the Ode to the Port.

It was a convivial atmosphere Friday, Dec. 8, when the works of all the participating artists were hung. There were some who worked alone yet others helped each other. By participating, you obligate yourself to hang your own work. The gray blocks to hang your work were ready. There were five pedestals and the outside walls were also suitable for hanging work. The atmosphere was casual. Both days were a success.

Before the opening, the president Irma Bruggeman announced that ST047PK had received a considerable amount of grant money that can be used to do many wonderful things, including educational programs for young people.

After the opening, during the evening the broadcast “Stars on the Canvas” was aired. The guests gathered in front of the projection sculpture and followed Renske Schild, a contestant connected to Möllerwerf, who was competing with two other artists for the first place in the TV program. All at a calm and controlled pace. Renske emerged as the winner, her work chosen by Johanna ter Stege, who had served as a model for a portrait and told a few things about her personal life to interviewer Özcan Akyol.

Open: on Saturday and Sunday from 12:30 – 6:30 p.m. Closed on holidays.
