- MEASURE FIRST, THEN ORDER: Measure the base of your nipple in millimetres before you pump, and order that size. Cushy flanges are soft silicone, not hard plastic: the tunnel flexes to your shape, so the extra 2-4mm you may have been told to add for a rigid flange will draw areola into the tunnel and can potentially reduce your output. If your IBCLC has sized you for silicone, use their number. Caught between two sizes? Go down, not up.
- DESIGNED WITH AN IBCLC: Developed with Jessica Anderson, IBCLC, of Genuine Lactation. Soft but firm medical-grade silicone in place of hard plastic, gentler on the breast and especially helpful for elastic, bulbous or sensitive tissue.
- SPECTRA / MOTIF / CIMILRE OWNERS - ADAPTER REQUIRED: Cushy works directly with Medela and Lansinoh. For Spectra, Motif and Cimilre pumps you will also need the Idaho Jones Wide Mouth Base Connector, sold separately. Ardo, Ameda, Baby Buddha and Unimom owners: see the compatibility guide for the adapter you need.
- 8 SIZES FROM 13MM TO 30MM - ORDER ONE SIZE, NOT TWO: A wider range than most brands, including the 13/15/17/19mm sizes most brands skip. Each pack holds 2 flanges of the same size, one per breast. If you measure between two sizes, start with the smaller one OR message us - we would rather help you dial in the fit than have you buy two packs and return one.
- HSA/FSA ELIGIBLE, PLUS FIT TROUBLESHOOTING: Pay with your HSA/FSA funds. If the silicone feels sticky for the first few uses, a little pumping spray or coconut oil helps and it settles after a few sessions. Hearing air escape at the base? Twist and push the flange into the connector at least 1/4 inch - a partly seated flange is the most common cause of lost suction.
